To avoid steam & then condensation getting around the house every time someone showers, when you've got a spare $300 or so, get a dome put over the top of the shower..
then use the dehumidifier placed under the washing on the clothes rack. You'll be amazed how quickly your clothes dry and my 12L /280 watt dehumidifier only costs 17c/hour!
getting a shower dome for over the top of the showers, to contain the stem. It causes the condensation to run down to the inside of the shower sides and down the drain instead.
If watching TV when no reading halogen required, I use as my background lighting, the flourescent tube lighting in the kitchen area, which seems to barely use power!!
