Water pumps with leaks and bad reticulation can cycle pumps on and off for hours. At approx 6 times the running current on start up, your power bill adds up.

When I was an apprentice we installed load shedding devices in a factory in Hamilton. These switched off non essential loads at non peak desired times.

My wife is mostly blind, so can not find the light switches easily. As an Electrician I have installed PIR (like the security light) detectors in place of the light switches.
