Build your own wind turbine, store the energy in a battery pack and use it to power your lights. This could be a very nice project where you could involve your children and teach them about environmental conservation and electricity generation. There is lots of information available on the internet of how to construct the wind turbine. Alternatively you may buy a commercial one and install it at your residence (1 to 3 kW models available).
