Use an outdoor fridge - like Grandma did

Gran had a little cupboard built into the wall of the kitchen that sat on the outside wall of the house. I don't know the correct name but I think we called it the meatsafe. I'm thinking that if we had one of those (or a smart, modern equivalent) we could turn off our fridge, during the cold winter months, at least. According to Powersavers the fridge takes more electricity than anything else - even the dryer!
