Thats not a good power saver, sorry. It takes a huge amount of power to re-heat the water in your hot water cylinder, infact it takes a weeks worth of heating every time (from cold). If you want to save power do everything you need to with hot water at once and take shorter showers. This way your hot water is only being reheated the once instead of once when you use it and again when you turn it back on after turning it off.

what you say here is a load of crap. Put it to the test! One cylinder from cold only takes 4-6 hours from cold to heat. You can live off that for up to two days. I have trailed it for one year now and saved a ton of money. Turn off in the morning and turn on at nite. Electricity suppliers want you to believe what you just posted as they have educated NZrs to believe such nonsense. It's in their best interest to do so. Hook your cylinder to a timer. Any Electrician will do it for you. Secondly Everyone is led to believe they are on ripple rates at nite. Again education by the Energy suppliers, however did you know that Ripple rate is only used by the energy companies in times of an energy crisis. They don't tell you that. Your cylinder when on only knows one speed and that is flat out every time it comes on. All day long while you are away at work. On, Off, On, Off, On, Off. All at full speed. Hope this helps to educate those who are reading this. Let common sense prevail and turn your cylinder off before you leave for work, or put it on a timer.
